North Most At Risk From Pandemic Fallout

A new report from ATTOM Data Solutions finds that the north was the most at risk from pandemic fallout in the third quarter…(ATTOM)

  • New Jersey, Delaware, and Illinois had 26 of the 50 counties most exposed to the potential housing-related impacts of the pandemic.
  • The areas at the highest risk included Chicago metropolitan area who had 8 counties at risk, six near New York City, and three in the Philadelphia suburbs.

On the other side of the spectrum, the South and the West saw the highest concentration of areas with the least exposure to pandemic risk…

  • Thirty-three of the 50 counties least vulnerable to pandemic-related problems were in the South and Midwest.
  • The areas at the least risk included Kansas City area with three counties followed by the Denver, Minneapolis, Nashville, and Richmond areas all had two counties.

NOTE: North Carolina had two counties in the top 50. Mecklenburg & Wake County

  • “There’s growing reason to think the Coronavirus pandemic may finally be heading into the history books as case numbers have dropped significantly in the past month or so. But it still poses a significant threat to the economy, with some housing markets in pockets of the country remaining at higher risk than others,”
