Consumer Confidence Falls More Than Expected
Consumer confidence fell more than expected in April as consumer concerns about the future outweighed their optimism for the current economy, according to the latest data from The Conference Board.
- M-O-M: The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index fell in April to 101.3, down from 104 in March and the lowest level since July 2022.
- Y-O-Y: Consumer confidence is down 7.3 points when compared to the same time last year.
Future Concerns. Consumers are feeling better about the current economy but their concern about the future outweighed those positive moves as the Expectations Index fell almost six points to 68.1 in April.
