Avelo Airlines is doubling down on its commitment to North Carolina, announcing a new base at Wilmington International Airport (ILM) and expanding its routes from Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) with international flights.

Why It Matters: Avelo’s expansion strengthens North Carolina’s connectivity to key domestic and international destinations while offering travelers more affordable flight options

  • New Wilmington routes:
    • Manchester, N.H. (MHT): Starts April 3, operating Thursdays and Sundays.
    • Nashville, Tenn. (BNA): Starts April 3, operating Thursdays and Sundays.
    • Rochester, N.Y. (ROC): Starts April 4, operating Fridays and Mondays.
  • New RDU routes:
    • Jamaica: Begins February 12.
    • Dominican Republic: Starts February 22.

With these additions, Avelo now offers 27 nonstop destinations from North Carolina.

What They’re Saying: Our North Carolina customers tell us they’ve loved flying Avelo since we took flight in North Carolina two years ago. Establishing bases in Charlotte and Wilmington, as well as our international expansion at our RDU base, enables us to bring even more affordable, convenient, and industry-leading reliability to more destinations,” said Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy

Big Picture: Avelo’s growth in North Carolina aligns with its strategy of creating affordable, direct routes to underserved markets. The move is expected to attract travelers and boost tourism and economic activity across the state.
