New data from Gallup finds that Americans are less negative about the economy in March then they were in February. Unfortunately, it is still underwater as the Gallup’s Economic Confidence Index still has overall confidence in negative territory at -7. (Gallup)

  • POSITIVE: 23% of Americans say the economy is “excellent” or “good,” and 44% say economic conditions are “getting better”
  • NEGATIVE: 31% of Americans say the economy is “poor” and 50% say economic conditions are “getting worse.”

Gallup did note that the 44% saying the economy is getting better is the highest for that measure since early March 2020. We all know 2021 is supposed to be a great year economically, but we still aren’t there yet. Many Americans are like Dallas Fed President Robert Kaplan who believes the economy is getting better but still needs hard data before he is completely sold.
