In 1962, the board of trustees of the proposed New Hanover Memorial Hospital released plans and an artistic rendering of the new hospital. The plans call for a 400-bed hospital with six or seven patient floors with two ground-level service floors. A third Salk shot was planned seven months later to complete the series.
