In 1984, on April 22nd Southeastern North Carolina’s first public radio station went on-air at 7a.m. The first sound on the new radio station was of a baby crying, then Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor, followed by then station manager Michael Titterton announcing: “Good morning and welcome to the very first broadcast day of WHQR-FM, Wilmington North Carolina.”
