Advance estimates of U.S. retail sales fell more than expected in February 2021 according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
- M-O-M: Retail Sales were down 3.0% month-over-month at $561.7 billion
- Y-O-Y: Retail sales were actually up 6.3% when compared to February 2020
The industries that did the best in February were gas stations (+3.6%), grocery stores (UNCH), and health & personal stores (-1.3%).
The industries that did the worst in February were department stores (-8.4%), sporting goods, hobby, musical instrument, & book stores (-7.5%), and motor vehicles & parts (-4.2%).
