In 1976, UNCW’s WCNU radio station was given permission to apply for an FM license from the FCC. SGA President, William Robinson, successfully persuaded the UNCW Board of Trustees by arguing that SGA had allocated $9,500 for the switch and that the reach of station would improve from one mile to three.
